Rachel Beckwith, 9 Year Old Gets Wish after Death
Hi everyone, it has been awhile since I’ve written a blog. Between finishing up the school year and jumping into summer, I have been so busy I haven’t had a chance.
But I just saw an article yesterday about a 9 year old girl, Rachel Beckwith, who wanted to raise $300 dollars before her birthday to donate to bring clean water to people in poor countries!
Sadly she was killed in a tragic car accident last week and will never see how that wish has taken off and gained so much attention. Rachel was $80 short of her goal when she turned 9 in June and then after the accident, news of her selfishness spread like wildfire and thousands of people have made donations in her name to support her cause!
By Tuesday afternoon, her webpage – www.mycharitywater.org that was set up to take contributions for Charity Water, a non-profit organization that brings clean drinking water to people in developing countries had raised over $200,000. And as of today there have been over 18,000 visitors and contributions of over $363,000!!
Rachel’s mother, Samantha Paul, posted a message on the website on monday “I am in awe of the overwhelming love to take my daughter’s dream and make it a reality. In the face of unexplained pain you have provided undeniable hope. Thank you for your generosity! I know Rachel is smiling.”
What a sad, sad situation. But the impact that her short life has made is amazing.
