Bullying in schools must stop! And we can start doing something about it right in our own school.
I got really, really mad at school today. I was walking down the stairwell when I saw a couple of kids making fun of a boy from the grade below us. They were teasing him because he was wearing hand-me-down clothes from his brothers. But worse than that, they were saying mean things about his dad. His dad lost his job last year and hasn’t been able to find a new job yet. The poor boy was trying so hard not to cry. I wasn’t sure what to do, so I just walked away frustrated.
When I got home I went on my computer to see what I could find out about bullying. I found this great article on dig4kids.org. I didn’t know that President Obama is campaigning for the end to bullying. Tomorrow when I go to school I am going to go to the Assistant Principal and tell him what I saw in the stairwell. I should have done more at the time, but I think I’m going to wear one of my brothers’ sweatshirts to school and then tell that boy that I LOVE to wear my brothers old sweatshirts!
What does everyone think about doing something as a club and putting up signs around school to Stop Bullying and Inspire Kindness? Maybe we could make the posters at our next Clubhouse meeting! I’ll ask for permission from the Assistant Principal tomorrow. Let me know what you think.
