If you haven’t heard yet, Google’s “Doodle 4 Google” contest is open for submissions. And they have come up with a great topic for the “doodling” this year: If I could travel in time, I’d visit … What an awesome subject to get wildly creative with!
If you are not familiar with this art contest, click here to visit the Google site for the details. But basically, kids K-12 are invited to submit their ideas of how to “dress up” the Google logo on their main search page. You may have noticed that on special days, like Valentines, St. Patrick’s and Mothers’ Day, Google has a special look for their logo. Here are some of my favorites:
But the doodles don’t always come from the professionals. Google looks for and often publishes submitted work. And for kids, this Doodle 4 Google contest is a special opportunity. Not only does your artwork get published on May 2 for all the world to see, but there are some really cool prizes including college scholarships and a trip to New York. And this year’s winning doodle will even appear on a Crayola box! Prizes are also awarded to the school that the winner attends.
So get busy, my creative friends, and let your inspiration run away with your imaginations. The deadline for submissions is March 23, 2012 (postmarked no later than March 20, 2012.) Review the official rules with your parents and teacher at: http://www.google.com/doodle4google/info.html
