Basil
© 2011 Clubhouse Enterprises Inc.Basil Hobbs™ has spent most of his life in foster care – moving from home to home. He currently lives next door to Daisy Button in Mrs. Sheffield’s foster home.
Basil is very sensitive, has low self esteem and lacks self confidence, although the other kids are helping him to change that. He hasn’t had many friends since he has moved around a lot and was always the new kid in school. He also didn’t want to make the effort only to have to pick up and move again. He really wants to be part of a family one day and not have to continue moving around.
Basil loves living next door to Daisy. She has taken him under her wing and brought him in as a member of their club. He is very grateful to be accepted by the other kids and considers them “his family.” He loves playing computer games. He is intrigued by astronomy and everything dealing with science and wants to be an astronaut one day. Daisy got him interested in writing and journaling. He spends his free time writing songs and checking out the games that Forrest creates.
Family Dynamics:
Basil can only remember living his life in foster care. He was told that his mother gave him up when he was very young and no one knows who his real father is. He has been bounced around from foster home to foster home with no real family of his own. Several homes have been nice, but others have been horrible – which is why he was constantly moved. He is very concerned that he will never have a family of his own. As he is getting older the chances of a family adopting someone his age gets harder and harder. Most people want to adopt an infant or someone younger. He always wonders what he did wrong for his parents to have abandoned him?
